What is being done to stop these chemicals?

Although many chlorofluorocarbons have been banned from the U.S. already, in order for the issue to get better CFCs bust be ridded of throughout the world. The Department of Environment and Natural Recourses is working hard on getting rid of CFCs. Their goal is to abolish all CFCs from America in the year 2012. Different programs through the Department are being put into actions. Cleaning programs have been put in action and are crucial the health of the Earth.

How and why are they in our enviroment?

1.       When the chemicals are released into the Earth they rise up and destroy the ozone layer. In some places these chemicals are banded, but not all types of CFC's are. Our goal is to have all CFC's banned by 2012.

What you can do to help solve this problem?

When reading after Chlorofluorocarbons, you might think to yourself that this is a problem that you have no control over. At first, I would agree that this pollutant sounds like too big of a problem. Fortunately, there is a easy way to start helping the cause. The simpliest action you can do is buy Lysol as your cleaner! Lysol is a product made with out CFC's. So the next time you are at your grocery store buy Lysol!

Is the enviroment affected by CFC's?

The enviroment gets affected the most by the CFC's. This chemical causes a variety of environmental problems. First off, CFC's release chlorine atoms that destroy molecules in the ozone. Secondly, the climate is affected because of the breakdown in the ozone layer. Lastly, the CFC's add to the greenhouse effect.

Can CFC's affect animals?

Although CFC's may affect animals the damage is not as bad as humans. Animals may given various health problems because scientists test this chemical on animals. An example is a guinea pig that received liver problems.

Do CFC's affect humans?

Humans can be affected very seriously by CFC's. This chemical can cause skin cancer, eye damage, or suppression of the immune system.

What do we use Chloroflourocarbons in?

CFC's are used in refrigerators, aerosol cans,  and air conditioners.

Is this chemical helpful or harmful?

Scientists first thought that this chemical would not be harmful because they would not react. As time went on, scientists found out in the 1970's that the sun's UV rays react with the chlorine and bromine atoms which then goes on to break down the ozone layer. This chemical has may have many positives but it's negatives over power them.
